Feiyu Lu

I am a Senior Researcher in the Advanced Technology Group at Dolby Laboratories. Prior to joining Dolby, I was a Research Scientist in the Global Technology Applied Research Group at JPMorganChase, managed by Prof. Blair MacIntyre. I obtained my Ph.D. degree at Virginia Tech in May 2023 advised by Prof. Doug A. Bowman. I was a proud member of the 3D Interaction Group, and my doctoral research received the prestigious VR Dissertation Award by the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Community (VGTC). I worked as a Research Scientist Intern at Meta Reality Labs Research in the summer of 2021 and 2022, mentored by Dr. Yan Xu. During my undergraduate studies, I was advised by Prof. Hai-Ning Liang who introduced me to the research world. My research interests lie broadly in the intersections of Spatial/Multimodal User Interface, Human-AI Interaction, AI/ML techniques such as Reinforcement Learning and LLM, and Augmented/Mixed/Virtual Reality. Specifically, I prototype and evaluate novel systems leveraging emerging technologies to enhance workflows, productivity, engagement, and address concrete real-world problems. I have published full papers in premiere venues such as IEEEVR, ISMAR, TVCG, and ACM CHI, SUI.
